I wasn’t raised in a nudist family but I would go skinny dipping as a youngster growing up on a farm. as soon as I returned from the Gulf War I decided life was too short not to attempt something I was always interested in. So when I heard about a nude beach near where I was stationed I went. I had a terrific time; it was quite a liberating experience.
I continued going and made friends. Over time I joined a club and then began going to bare resorts. I found that the folks there were so open and fair and non judgmental. I found that there were so many others just like me there and no one was there to check out others, only for the pure fun and joy of relaxing without clothes. I understand that may seem hard to trust but that’s the truth. We made great friends and my family became members to that club and even now we keep our membership at a nearby club.
I just wish the public could see that we are ordinary, regular folks who only happen to enjoy relaxing without clothing on our time off. My grown daughter has loads of self confidence about herself and part of the reason is that she knows what real women look like and does not feel insecure about herself. That’s a direct consequence of her being raised in a nudist household. I think that if more people tried it they would see what I’m referring to.

Hiking In The Nude
Having experienced public nudity on occasion before, I’m no stranger to that feeling of once experienced, never going back. However, I began finding narratives about hiking naked outside west and in the Alps, first in Wikipedia, then elsewhere, seven years back.
What a simple, logical notion that couldn’t possibly fly on the east shore, or so I thought. I needed to try it (bucket list if you will). Like skinny dipping in the breeze instead of in the water. So I headed to Vermont where I could find suitably distant terrain and legality. Well all I can say is that the encounter was transforming, like that of finding the liberty liberalization and peace of nudity for the very first time, all over again.
Since that fateful instant, I’ve hiked, backpacked, and camped hundreds of miles on the remote trails of the northeast, in all kinds of weather. I’ve gone for as long as a week without putting on clothing in the outback during the summer. I have hiked bare for hours at a time in the snow. I one day trekked in the nude officially and without troubling anyone, in a city (Toronto…CO beach and immediate environment off season in November).
Being in the nude in the wilds is a life affirming outdoor activity which has few rivals in my modest opinion. It sharpens your senses as well as your knowledge of your natural surroundings and those creatures that share this small portion of the universe with us. Additionally you soon recognize how incredibly adept our bodies are, as delivered by our Creator, at accommodating the challenges of our environment. Sweat management is a wind. Creatures of the woods come closer and accept your existence more easily. I once had a moose cross my path, and pause, not more than three arms lengths in front of me. We stared at each other for the better part of three minutes, both smoothly accepting each others’ right to be there. Eventually I spoke up and apologized to Mr Moose for startling him, the exact same greeting that I normally use in my infrequent encounters with cloths. With that he took one closing unconcerned look at me and ambled off, crashing through the underbrush.
Unforgettable!
Long distance hikers are taking, even supporting, of my taste. I choose my times and places, so as to avoid having to explain the numerous pleasures of hiking in the buff to anxious parents with kids in tow. Element of the ethic of this form of outdoor recreation is recognition and respect for the feelings of others less comfortable with the notion.

First Time
I was in the park in a wooded area. It was concealed. I got my clothes off and took a walk. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. I kept doing it.

First-Time Nudist
My first social-nudist encounter was at a clothing-optional hot tub in Quad Cities, Iowa. Before arriving I knew that the tub would be Clothing Optional, but I believed that meant that a few of the folks would choose the option of being naked and some would choose the the alternative of wearing a bathing suit. I would opt to do the latter, although I really had no problem seeing my pals naked.
When I was brought to the bath, I saw that EACH ONE of the people in the bathtub was bare. WHAT TO DO??? I thought “What the heck. I’ll try it once.” Within 30 seconds I was hooked for life.
I spent the next 17 years visiting every nudist resort and nude beach that I could squeeze into my small holiday time.
Finally, in 1999 I retired and I have resided for the past ten years at a clothing-optional resort in AZ (SLR). beach sex of the hot tub celebration that started all this, moved here three years ago from Iowa.

My First Time
I was a teenaged boy in the mid-60’s and I just got out of the shower. My mother was watching TV in the den and I wondered what her reaction would be if I went around naked. So I went in the room where she was and sat down right across from her. She asked me why I was not dressed and I told her I was more comfortable not wearing clothes. http://kylal.com said that was alright with her if I needed to be a nudist.
I then went in the back yard and sun bathed nude. I’ve been a nudist all these years but my wife doesn’t comprehend it. I go naked in my home as frequently as possible, even when her friends visit.
